You are here:   FAQ'S > What are dental implants?

Implants are natural looking replacements for missing teeth. The implant itself is a metal post which attaches within the jawbone. It replaces the root portion of the tooth. This post provides an anchor for your dentist to place a crown, bridge or other restoration.

Implants can be used to replace a single missing tooth or multiple teeth. They can also be used to retain dentures.

Implant Dentistry is a team effort between Dr. Turunen and your dentist. Dr. Turunen will place the implant into your jaw (a surgical procedure) and your dentist will provide the restoration. After treatment, implants require the same care as your natural teeth (brushing, flossing and periodic professional cleanings).
